Bring Us Back to You
In 1997, five colleagues gathered to discuss the way forward in Messianic Judaism. They realized that the best way to make progress was to bring together many good minds. Even the five of them were not enough. There ought to be an annual gathering and an ongoing conversation.
The organization they founded, which is also the mother of MJTI, they called it Hashivenu, "bring us back to you."
From Lamentations 5:21, and familiar to most Jews from the Etz Chaim prayer, Hashivenu has been a fitting term for a new movement within Messianic Judaism. Annual meetings of leaders and scholars are the heart of Hashivenu. Each year a different topic brings us together, a topic whose discussion is intended to mature and grow Messianic Judaism in conformity to the image of Messiah.
